How thankful I am today, to know that all my past failures were necessary for me to be where I am now. Through much pain came experience and, in suffering, I became obedient. When I sought God, as I understand Him, He shared His treasured gifts. Through experience and obedience, growth started, followed by gratitude. Yes, then came peace of mind — living in and sharing sobriety.

Comme je suis reconnaissant, aujourd’hui, de savoir que tous mes échecs passés, sans exception, m’ont permis d’arriver là où je suis maintenant. L’expérience est venue par la souffrance, et la souffrance m’a rendu docile. J’ai recherché Dieu, tel que je le conçois, et il a partagé avec moi ses précieux dons. Grâce à l’expérience et à l’obéissance, j’ai connu la croissance, puis la grati­tude. Et ce fut enfin la paix d’esprit d’une vie sobre et ouverte aux autres.
